Nurse Jackie  Jem at 22:38 on 04 January 2010

Anyone watching? Clever US comedy drama about a nurse - she was in the Sopranos. Quirky, a bit like a female House. It's on every night this week on BBC2 but you can catch tonight's on I-player if you want to catch up on this pilot series. Highly recommended - just half an hour a night for five nights.

Re: Nurse Jackie  saturday at 16:35 on 05 January 2010

Thanks for the reminder, Jem. I thought it looked interesting but then forgot to record it so I will definitely make the effort to catch it on the i-player.

I'm sure you'll love, it Saturday. Caroline and SB am relying on you to get hooked on this!

Re: Nurse Jackie  CarolineSG at 14:13 on 12 January 2010

Have recorded it but only just realised, after seeing something in the paper, that Nurse Jackie is Carmella Soprano!

Doh! You even mentioned that in your original post.

I've just caught up with this Jem - and I think it's great! I've watched number six and it's on Monday nights now at 10pm I think. Very funny and moving.

Re: Nurse Jackie  Jem at 16:03 on 17 January 2010

Yes, I'm loving it!

I'm thinking this is as good as Glee in its own way. Beautifully written.

Re: Nurse Jackie  Jem at 17:23 on 04 February 2010

I prefer Mo-Mo, aka Haaz Sleiman, Unfortunately he's been cut from the next series, apparently because the English doctor has kind of taken over from Mo-Mo as Nurse Jackie's best friend. Such a shame.

Re: Nurse Jackie  funnyvalentine at 17:10 on 05 February 2010

Oh No But I Love Him!!!

(What drug is it that you think she is snorting)

Re: Nurse Jackie  Jem at 17:13 on 05 February 2010

Anything she can get her hands on, I reckon!

I think I heard Percocet, whatever that is.

Re: Nurse Jackie  funnyvalentine at 10:42 on 07 February 2010

I think that's a painkiller - so must be a relaxant. I wondered if she was taking stuff to speed up or to slow down. Why I need to know this, I have no idea!

Re: Nurse Jackie  Jem at 17:57 on 07 February 2010

Yes, funnyvalentine - I looked it up and it's a brand name - equivalent to our Nurofen, I think. I think if you're addicted to prescription drugs like this you it's because you had a problem it helped - in her case her bad back - and then you just can't come off them. I don't think it's like speed or cannabis in that it takes you up or slows you down. You just crave it.

Re: Nurse Jackie  funnyvalentine at 15:36 on 08 February 2010

Ah ha - I didn't know she'd had a bad back - thank you for that! I couldn't see what she was getting from it - which was confusing me and now I know. Ooh it's on tonight. Hooray.

Re: Nurse Jackie  Jem at 16:30 on 08 February 2010

Glad to be of help, funnyvalentine! It's a very common addiction, apparently. I heard something on Woman's Hour about women who've become addicted to Nurofen.

Re: Nurse Jackie  debac at 14:01 on 16 February 2010

I didn't know you could get addicted to ibuprofen. I have heard of people being addicted to the versions of ibuprofen you can get over the counter which have added codeine. Ditto paracetamol and codeine, but you couldn't spank that as hard cos the paracetamol'd kill you.

I thought Nurse Jackie was addicted to an opiate. Was Vicodin mentioned once?
