Glee  Jem at 23:07 on 11 January 2010

Anyone else catch this tonight? It's sort of like "Fame" but with better jokes and even camper. A double episode but you might be able to catch it again. I think it's going to hook me.

Just watched it. Very Good - especially that coach woman with all the great lines.

She's got balls, that one!

I seem to be watching all the same stuff you are, Jem. I'm loving Nurse Jackie. I liked Glee, but something felt a bit off about it somehow. Maybe it's the pacing. It just seems to move so fast. Also, the other kids in the group barely got a look in. Maybe they'll develop as it goes along. I'm hooked enough to keep going for awhile.

I liked it too!

Considering my 'High School' days are 3 decades behind me now (yikes!! where's the years gone?), I watched and enjoyed.

And less than a fortnight to go before Series 3 of MM!!!!

Sorry to be a bore but what I really like about this series is the writing. It's so good it's invisible. I confess I haven't analysed exactly why yet - just enjoyed it. But I suspect if you looked closely, you'd see all the classic good writing skills in spades, e.g. memorable characters with plenty of torturing of the leads, scene cliffhangers and hooks, classic good vs evil in modern form (aren't those cheerleaders terrific villains?), lots of humour (which comes out of the characters, not from slapped-on jokes), songs that fit the themes, misfits vs nazis, etc, etc. I honestly think this series would be a good basis for a writing master class rather than say Wallander.

I love that the cheerleaders are always wearing their uniforms. Hilarious.

I watched the second one last night, with another to go.
Is great fun. I'm not a big fan of the teacher with OCD though...almost find her hard to watch.

Agree, the writing's terrific as is the characterisation. I thought Josh Brogan was a hoot, last night. he's got to be an actor as well as just a singer/songwriter. And I am definitely getting the hots for Mr Schuester.

What was that gag last week about "My very own Sophie's Choice" when the wife couldn't decide between two features in the new house she was desperate for them to buy. I love all the characters. They are all my favourites - so well drawn.

The show got its mojo back last night - how brilliant was Kurt in Rose's Turn??

Re: Glee  Jem at 11:28 on 22 May 2010

Missed it - have been away and gone off watching it because the last couple I saw were a bit meh. But maybe I should go back to it. Similar feelings about Desperate Housewives which seems to have go a bit silly.

I must admit to having given up on Glee after about 4 episodes. It was just a bit too sugary for me, despite some good lines. I so wanted to like it too!
