Hi, I just wondered if anyone could tell me what this forum is for. Usually people seem to get advised to join a group if they want to upload things, but newbies often upload and tell people in Introduce Your Work.
I just wondered what people's views were on whether it works as a forum...?

To clarify... whenever newbies upload work into that forum, they are generally advised to join a group. So the forum seems pointless and actually counter-productive, perhaps, since newbies go to it like flies and are then effectively rebuffed.
Or maybe I'm wrong...?

It can be useful to post a link here to work posted in a Group or in the Archive if you want additional feedback from people outside the group - especially in the case of work posted in the Archive, or work posted in one of the quiet groups where it could be overlooked - especially if you want feedback before submitting it to a competition within a fast approaching deadline.

oops, probably should have proof-read that before posting.

I haven't seen evidence of new members being rebuffed by posting in the Introduce Your Work forum. It's a fairly static forum, more for information than for meeting and greeting, however it does have a dual purpose should new members overlook the Newcommers forum and decide to post in IYW.

Hi
I have a question regarding work posted in group forums and made visible only to that group.
If a link was then put in the Introduce your work forum, would it automatically be visible to non group members or would the visibilty option have to be changed?
Thanks
chris

The visibility option would have to be changed to 'Write Words Members only', Chris.
However, if you are a member of more than one group, then members of the other group(s) should be able to see the work.

Thanks Naomi for your answer.

When I said 'rebuffed' I didn't mean it quite literally - just that it's usually suggested they join a group to post work.
