We've made some 'under the hood' changes to the site today on the groups home pages, which should mean accessing those pages, particularly busy groups, is considerably faster. This will hopefully also speed up the whole of the site a little as a result.
Please let me know in this thread if you have any observations.
It was quite a complicated and fiddly manoeuvre so it's possible a few bugs may have crept into those pages, please keep you eye open for such things and let me know if you see anything untoward!

Definitely quicker - no more nipping out to make a cup of tea whilst waiting for a page to load.

I couldn't joint the new stranger than fiction group i kept on getting an error. Could that be one of the bugs?

This isn't directly to do with the speed of the site, but to do with a 'feature' that I keep tripping over. It would appear that if a single quote is followed immediately by a closing bracket, the site displays a winking smiley in place of the bracket (for example: '. Is this deliberate, or is it a bug?
