Wow! What have we started! Was going to seriously lower the tone by telling you one of my most memorable early date questions, but I shall restrain myself.....
  • Re: In the name of inspiration/research

No no! Please don't say that and then not tell us! I'll be wondering all day!

Sorry Catherine, I was so busy running off at a tangent that I forgot to answer your original question. I went on a climbing course to see what it felt like for Terrestrial and climbed a forty foot wall, which was the sweatiest, shit-scariest thing I ever did. But wonderful.

Dee. A pentagram? With a silver bolt through it? And he wonders why he gets haunted?

Adele. Neanderthals are probably more civilised than some of the guys in City of Dreams

Ste. Herself when she's dead? Creepy.

Sharon, more on Kern, why don't all those ciggies melt the ice??? And which Clash album? I'm imagining London Calling.

    Adele.

That's the one; I love that picture.

If the ice melts, Ilsa breaths on him and freezes it again.
  • Re: In the name of inspiration/research

    Sharon,

"The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Engines stop running and the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
London is drowning-and I live by the river"

    How very apt!

    Adele.
  • Re: In the name of inspiration/research
    by Al T at 08:54 on 06 September 2004
Catherine, yes, back to your original question. I spent many years working in the shark-infested waters of investment banking and then wrote a novel about it. I also went to Rishikesh in India, which appears towards the end of the book. Does that count?

    Adele.
  • Re: In the name of inspiration/research
by Davy Skyflyer at 13:05 on 06 September 2004
Man I love that album, and Sharon you are right, it is the coolest cover ever! Quoting the words from London Calling?? You girls are on it! Adele, really, where have you been all my life? That old smooth talking thang again huh? Aaanyway, talking of retro 80's (or late 70's) nuclear chic, has anyone seen Threads before? It was on last night on UK Documentary, and for something made in 1984 blew me away! Depressing? You ain't even close!

I'm interested in this questioning of characters. Can you all sincerely say that is them and not you? I'd be tempted to put chocolate ice cream every time just coz I love chocolate ice cream. Mmmm...I might just write it again. Chocolate ice cream.

This is another reason why New Novelist is so cool (not choclate ice cream), coz it has this process built in, asking questions like who are their friends and likes dislikes annoying habits, good habits et-cet-er-RAH! all my zombie characters are built up on it, and it does work, coz they come out quirky and orginal. But can you go too far? Don't we need mystery in the characters too, so sometimes they surprise even us as the creators?

Hmmm, jury's out for me. Interested to see what you guys think.

Luv n' choclate chicken ice cream
