I recently heard about Bookcrossing.com and decided to find out more about it on the internet. There I found a link to another website called Authorcrossing.com. It sounds a bit like Lulu.com but with a large global book club associated with it. Has anyone had any experience of dealing with Authorcrossing.com in the past. I'm surprised to find no mention of it on WW.

I've heard of Bookcrossing - I think it was featured on The Book Show. Interesting idea, especially if you travel by tube around london every day, but, unfortunately i haven't seen any abandoned books out in the sticks.
As for Authorcrossing, it is not the same thing. It's simply a self-publishing company like Lulu. All it does it convert your mss into book format, and as with all self-publishing ventures, the writer is the one who has to then try to sell it, and that's a whole other ball game, unless you intend to leave free copies, ala Bookcrossing, lying around for people to read.

Simply listing a self-published book on a website is not enough to sell it.

One thing that annoys me about Authorcrossing's front page is this line:
Receive feedback. Nearly a million BookCrossing members are just waiting to read your book.
- If you think it is a good site, how many self-published books have you ordered off it to read?
