I sent my parents the link and my dad told me he saw it and that it was "quite good", in a very halfhearted tone. Well, thanks for your use of superlatives, Dad... I don't really mind, but I don't think either of them really understood. They wondered why the photo on the page was not of me.

It's a good thing I've got you guys to buoy me up! Parents, eh?

I think lots of them do that. Mine insists on reading all my published stories, and then tells me that he didn't have the faintest idea what on earth they were about, and he doesn't know why I write such "weird stuff". He does that every single time.

I also loved the piece and have just linked to it in a blog post I'm drafting for later this month.
