Cloud Busting by Malorie Blackman  optimist at 10:44 on 26 January 2008

My daughter came home from school with this - free books for year 7 s initiative - and I think it is fabulous.

Has anyone else read it?

I have, but it isn't my favourite children's verse novel, I have to say. I much, much prefer Sharon Creech's Love That Dog, which I feel has a sense of poetry that Cloud Busting doesn't. I just have never been very keen on Malorie Blackman's writing in general. Nothing wrong with the plots, it's the language that, for me, doesn't lift off the page.
