This course is aimed at beginners (though some writing experience or previous writing courses would be helpful), and covers the basics of screenwriting. Over the 6 weeks participants will look at the basic principles of writing for television and film including; script layout, writing treatments and beat by beats, the creation of original characters, storylines and dialogue, exploring visual language and much more. Throughout the course work will be shared, read out and discussed with the group. Participants will need to type up their work and bring in copies of their script for the readings each week, so computer access is a must.
