  • Opening - Ending mix-up exercise

    Here's an exercise that could be fun if we could find a few takers.

    Everyone who wants to "play" needs to come up with an opening line and then what they think might be an ending line for that piece.

    Then we need to exchnage endings (somehow randomly) and then write something connecting our original beginning with the "inherited" ending.

    Ok I'm always game for a laugh, here is my attempt, any takers?

    It was silent as the final drop of golden liquid fell from the pot.......

    ......with a quick glance over his shoulder buttoning his coat Jim flicked the switch and locked the door.

    I rather like baroque’s offering. It’s almost a story in itself!

    Dee - Ha! Well I'm having a good strong mug of coffee now, so that'll have to do for the moment!

    Lemme add one:

    Have you ever noticed how your dreams are usually within reach, though often hiding in the furniture like metaphysical chameleons.....

    ... "And that," he said, "is what I did."

    So Baroque has ending number one, I have ending number two. If we can't get any more, we'll have to swap endings, but let's wait and see if we get more. Then we could take the ending maybe two away from our own. If that makes sense.

    Ok, I get the take two enings from ours, but where do we get the start from, is it our start or one from somewhere else in the pile?

    <Added>

    thx Dee, was surprised to see I ws not the only one on site at 6.30am. Are we mad?

    <Added>

    perhaps being up so early explains why I cannot spell or is it type.

    Baroque --

    Aha! So it's not just Dee and me in here right now! Morning, Baroque!

    Re story exercise: We'd work from our own beginning and use the other ending.

    Should we wait and see if we can get any more in the mix?

    Would love to join in, Ani, but there’s a crisis building up at The Winter House… yes, another one… and it’s a biggy.

    If this is still going when I’ve sorted them all out I’ll do it.

    Actually, Baroque, I wasn't thinking, and I think it would be even more fun if we did like you were asking, take a different ending from the pile, too. That sounds even more fun.

    Dee, who knows, we may still be hanging around with this after you've met your crisis. Or maybe not, depending on how this does/n't catch on!
