WriteWords talks to the London Script Consultancy

Tell us all about your company/organisation- ethos, people involved, aims, successes

The London script consultancy has been running for nearly 10 years, working on hundreds of scripts. We also have over 8 years experience in lecturing. Many people who came on our weekend course proceeded to write and sell screenplays to Film4, Vertigo films, Hammer and Maze films. Our courses have won approval from screenwriters such as Blake Snyder (author of number 1 bestselling book on screenwriting ‘Save the Cat’).
Our ethos is; anyone can do it, there is no such thing as talent, becoming successful require a lot of hard work and a lot of studying the masters.

What are you looking for/offering to writers?

The London Script Consultancy offers an honest and professional consultancy service to new or established writers. In addition to our consultancy service we also take lectures at Central Film School. (For more info see website scriptconsultancy.com)

What excites you about a piece of writing-

The first thing anyone in the industry will ask about your film, is what is the high concept? If the high concept is a unique, strong and fresh idea that is exciting. What really keeps the attention of the audience is a strong well-crafted structure. The piece itself must also have depth with an important message.

and what makes your heart sink?

A great idea and enthusiasm lost in poor structure and a naivety about the craft.
