This is the first few pages of my novel - chapter one. Ultimately, the story is about a family who return in desperation to the tiny timber town in the Oregon Cascade mountains where the parents grew up. First person protagonist is oldest daughter Goldie, 16 years old, who's coming of age will be the backbone of the novel.
