Leaving school with few 0 levels, he secured an embryonic career in journalism but washed it away with gin. A damascene moment in a call box on the Sussex coast saved his life and led a late career in nursing and addiction counselling. Retired in Yorkshire, he`s returned to his first love and currently studying MA, Creative Writing &Publishing, Lincoln University and Guardian
