It would have helped to have read the prologue first, but that's not yet ready for publication. It concerns the bizarre murder of an apparently innocent academic. I'm not very pleased with this chapter because it sounds like a cheap whodunnit - not the genre to which I aspire - though it is critical to the plot. Would be interesting to hear views of whether Evitts' account sounds authentic, or where you place his motives to be from his story. Thanks to all Andy 

This is the continuation of the chapter I've recently published, comprising the restaurant meeting between Dr Handley, Gordon Evitts and another character you briefly met in another istallment. This should illustrate the question about how connections would be established between some of the characters! The previous section will be edited to spread the content more logically, as kindly suggested by several people. 

This extract covers Erin's therapy session. It's very much work in progress, so please make some allowance - I will excise the cliches and stylistic faults! Really interested to hear whether the characterisation sounds consistent and logical, since you now know some things about her in her own voice, and from the perspective of Karl in chapter 6. Also whether the tension builds well - does it make you want to keep reading? 

I wrote this brief ghost story some years ago to perform at a Christmas reading party. It has no literary merit (I'm working on better fiction that this), but is at least moderately entertaining and mercifully short! It's also (deliberately) melodramatic, with as many twists and turns as you could expect to fit into 3 pages! Someday I'll rewrite it and flesh out the characters, in which case it may sound less like a soap opera. 

This is a short slightly Christmassy spin-off story using the Carpe Diem characters Karl-Erik and Erin, written for the Hoddesdon Players' Christmas readings social event. You can imagine it to be beyond the end of the events in the novel, though Karl is still trying to resist Erin and ultimately failing to resist the charms of a Christmas together. It's written in two parts: from Karl-Erik's perspective, then from Erin's. Merry Xmas to one and all! 

A small comedy sketch written for the Hoddesdon Players' 2006 revue. This is the longer version - an edited version was created to make it easy on the actors! 

Another short sketch developed for the Hoddesdon Players and their revue in May 2006 - you won't know the people concerned, but that doesn't matter. Just a mildly amusing little piece with no pretensions. More of this kind to follow while I complete the meaty work!
