Jibunnessa

In my novel 'Shaquilla's Papers', the main narrator, Shaquilla (when she was a teenager), wrote this poem about her eccentric Scottish neighbour, Brenda.

From the novel, ‘Shaquilla’s Papers’. Shaquilla herself wrote this as a teenager, in response to a news item she saw on the telly. 

She meets Brian again after so many years. This is the beginning of the recollection. A childhood love story. 

In 1996, I travelled alone across Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. In 1997, I wrote an email to Dominik Wujastyk (a great bloke, Sanskrit scholar and expert in Ancient Indian Medical History), which mainly talks of this journey.  

This was going to be a much longer poem originally. Not entirely sure it's finished. It might grow later. Let me know what you think. 

Most of my life, words dripped off my fingertips, so I wrote them down. Sometimes, these grew into poems, and at other times short stories or a partially-completed novel. Last couple of years, have been peculiar. Words stopped dripping, and my fingertips grew silent. This is the first poem I've put up in ages. I'd love to know what you guys think. 

I wrote this about 8 years ago. I am now a different person. So, am not entirely sure how I feel about it. Would be interested to see how YOU feel about it. 

I loved this movie from the very beginning of the beautifally-crafted intro sequence to the very end credits. 

Just came to me. This is not finished. But, wanted to put it up anyway. Please do comment.
