The Walrus

This is purely experimental! Have very little experience of writing prose - so this may fall monumentally flat on its face. 

A tad abstract. 

Always room for improvement... 

A quickie. 

This has been in my WIP folder for a while. Keep going back to it and can't figure out how to improve it. Suggestions always welcome. 

A hasty and somewhat frivolous number. 

Structure/technique/style... whatever inspired by Roovacrag's 'Home Again', and very much a first draft. If anyone can think up a suitable title for this, I would be grateful. Oh, and if it's pants, please say. 

Penultimate stanza needs reworking. 

Is there such a word as 'boing-ing'?

Dedicated to my dear friend, Dr William Cruickshank, who died last November. He 'gave' me the poem this is based upon - 'Invictus' by William Ernest Henley - for which I am very thankful.

Ramblings 

Nothing like a bit of vitriol. 

Would have liked to have worked on this a bit more, but pushed for time. So, please consider as a first draft. 

I appear to be embarking on a rather scarey phase of 'Horror Poetry'. This poem is dedicated to Mr McNay. 

This simple poem is written about and dedicated to Isabella, my niece, who is of course, from a completely objective point of view, the most beautiful child that ever walked this earth. (Her mother is Indian, her father Greek/English, hence the 'chocolate' cherub). 

This is the flip side of 'Lucifer's Embrace'. ('Farishta' is the urdu for 'angel'.)  

Wrote this. Read it, and thought it smacked of pomposity. 

This very ordinary poem is dedicated to SC, an extraordinary man. 

Taking a bit of a flyer on this one. 

One can't always explain where poems come from. This one is no exception. 

I can only apologise for this one. There really is no excuse. 

This one, I fling into the ether.

aaah.... it was a good summer... 

I was recently 'accused' of being a conformist. This 'poem' is a rather pititful attempt at responding to such a remark. 

Not so random encounters such as these, reinforce my view that the world is indeed both a beautiful and magical place. 

Perhaps I will regret this one in the morning.
